These supplements must have a minimum of 25% and a maximum of 100% of the vitamins and/or minerals recommended per day. It is important to note that they do not replace normal meals and should not be the only source of food.

On the other hand, medicines based on vitamins and minerals (multivitamins) should be taken in larger amounts than normally recommended for daily consumption. They have a higher concentration of these nutrients than the amount you would normally get from regular foods or supplements.

In contrast to medicines, supplements are not intended to treat illnesses. On the other hand, medicines made with vitamins and minerals are called “multivitamins and/or multiminerals”.

What are multivitamins for?

Multivitamins are created to replace a specific amount of vitamins, or even a group of them, when our body does not have enough.

Generally, they are used when we cannot get enough vitamins from the foods we eat. This happens when there is a lack of these vitamins or when our diet needs a boost.

However, it is important to emphasize that the consumption of multivitamins cannot replace food and should not be the only source of nutrition in the diet.
